Attention Telecommunications Operators, Internet Service Providers, System Administrators, and All Organizations Using DNSSEC

ICANN
has announced the upcoming DNSSEC Root Key Signing Key (KSK) Rollover, scheduled for 11 October 2026.

The KSK Rollover is a planned security procedure intended to maintain the security, stability, and resilience of the global Domain Name System (DNS). This change will affect organizations operating DNSSEC-validating recursive resolvers, particularly those using:

  • manually configured Trust Anchors;
  • outdated software;
  • custom DNSSEC configurations.

If the required updates are not applied in a timely manner, DNS resolution failures may occur after 11 October 2026.

Accordingly, all relevant organizations are strongly encouraged to assess the readiness of their infrastructure in advance, verify that Trust Anchor automatic update mechanisms are functioning correctly, and, where necessary, update their software and DNSSEC configurations.

Detailed information about the KSK Rollover process, technical guidance, the implementation timeline, frequently asked questions, and an informational video for operators is available at the following links:
